Range Rover

2002 Range Rover

We're proud to point out that nothing else looks like a Range Rover. Because even though there's no questioning Range Rover's status as the ultimate luxury sport-utility, the vehicle's unique profile also confirms its all-around versatility. You might say it looks refined, but not wimpy. You'd be right.

The result of this blend of luxury and toughness is a look that's sophisticated without seeming ostentatious. Polished, but not impractical. It's the look that defined this vehicle category before there was a category.

You won't find needless vanities like gold finish or lettering on a Range Rover. That you're driving a Range Rover speaks for itself. Because while it's true that possessions do not make the individual, a Range Rover - like a split-bamboo fly rod or a well-used passport - does say a certain something about the person who owns one.

The centerpiece of the Range Rover is its 4.6-liter all-alloy V8 engine, equipped with Bosch electronic engine management and factory-tuned dual exhausts. The engine generates a maximum output of 222 horsepower and can develop up to 300 pound-feet of peak torque.

This combination of raw horsepower and exceptional torque provides exceptional performance in daily traffic situations and outstanding pulling power for trailer hauling and off-road flexibility.

The electronically controlled four-speed transmission works closely with the three open differentials, two-speed transfer case and a viscous coupling as the heart of what we believe is the finest Permanent four-wheel drive system available.

Land Rover Discovery

2002 Discovery II

There's no question about it: the Land Rover Discovery Series II vehicles are as unique in their looks as they are in their ability. Discovery won't be mistaken for anything but a purpose-built vehicle that's great in nearly every driving situation. A boxed-steel frame with aluminum and steel body panels reflects the rugged durability of the Discovery.

A wide range of exterior colors means you can be as bold or modest as you like with your Discovery. And the various Land Rover Kit accessories that are available only enhance the unique look.

There's more to a vehicle's body than its appearance. It's also the first line of defense to the occupants in the event of an accident. While it's nice if your vehicle impresses your neighbors when it's sitting in your driveway, it's better if it helps protect your family in a collision.

We believe the Discovery Series II accomplishes both goals admirably. It offers a distinctive look that won't ever be mistaken for "ordinary," and also provides protection we hope you never need.

Though the Discovery's fully boxed, seam-welded 14-gauge steel frame is the heart of its protection, the vehicle offers a variety of additional body-related enhancements.

Chief among these is a steel inner-body cage that lies between the frame and the outer sheet metals. Finally, doors are composed of corrosion-resistant aluminum alloy with large steel impact beams, while the rest of the exterior body panels - including the roof - are composed of double-sided galvanized steel.

Freelander

2002 Freelander

Freelander springs from the same global heritage, the same Land Rover DNA that conceived Range Rover, Discovery and their world-renowned predecessors. With just a glance, you immediately recognize it as a Land Rover. The rugged good looks are there. The go-anywhere stance is there. And Freelander adds a few new elements to the Land Rover gene pool. It's nimble. It's energetic. And as the British would say, it's a bit cheeky.

Freelander is the right size for you and all your stuff. And, it has surprising conveniences everywhere you look.

Freelander has room for five and - with its 60/40 split folding rear seat - there's plenty of room for your "toys." The standard AM/FM/CD stereo can play the soundtrack for your day, and the available roof rack lets you carry your kayak.

When you and your friends are out for a drive, the things you need most will always be within easy reach. There is overhead storage, water-bottle holders in the front doors and cupholders on the dashboard.
