SummerPrep ’99

SummerPrep ’99 offers arts, academics and athletics for children ages 4 to 17.

SummerPrep offers students a high-quality experience in enriching and challenging coursework, and an opportunity to learn new skills, or to enhance and improve upon things they already know.

Our classes are small, with maximum enrollment of 12 students (unless stated otherwise in the course description), so each child gets plenty of one-on-one instruction and personalized assistance. There are many classes to choose from, so your child can look forward to lots fun and exciting experience at SummerPrep! It’s six weeks your child will remember for a lifetime!

Courses

SummerPrep’s courses are grouped into eight areas

Skill Builders
Skill Builders includes such academic areas as Language Arts, Foreign Language, Math and Science. While classes are fun and interesting, they also give students academic instruction that will serve them well once they’re back in the classroom.

Surf’s Up
Surf’s Up includes a variety of challenging classes for students who either want to learn or are already proficient on the computer. Kids can do programming, surf the ‘Net, learn keyboarding skills and create home pages.

The Arts Have It
Arts classes are divided into Studio Arts, Theater Arts and Other Fun Stuff. Students may learn to draw, sculpt in clay, paint, write plays, do storytelling, juggle, play with diablos or yo-yos, shoot photos and much, much more.

Outdoor Activities
This area includes some very exciting offerings - constructing and flying R/C model sailplanes, soaring in a life-size glider, horseback riding, in-line hockey, karate and tennis.

MiniSports Camp
This two-hour afternoon program is designed to help bring balance to a child’s life. Youngsters will develop or enhance their skills in a variety of physical activities and sports. They’ll play volleyball, tennis, basketball, lacrosse, soccer and softball.

Crafty As A Fox Craft Camp
In this two-hour afternoon program, children participate in scheduled arts-and-crafts activities.

SPS Sports Camps
The Sandia Prep School coaching staff conducts instructional camps in volleyball, basketball and soccer during three one-week camps.

Children’s Workshop
Albuquerque’s independent schools - Sandia Prep School, Albuquerque Academy and Manzano Day School - are the sites for this outstanding program for young children. The Children’s Workshop, a summer program for four- and five-year-old children, provides a stimulating environment where children are encouraged to explore, experiment and make fruitful choices.
